Make sure you use anti-static to install the product as well. I would say this: know your product, and know if your device supports the product. I was also skeptical at first about Timetec, with them being the cheapest. In the end, Timetec seemed legit, especially for the price. I spent a lot of time debating between Timetec, Corsair, and Crucial.

I started with 4 GB RAM, and made the decision to upgrade to 16 GB. I purchased this for my Early 2011 Macbook Pro 13". It's true - 4GB is the bare minimum to run a Macbook Pro. I'm surprised this RAM by TimeTec doesn't get more reviews compared to other companies.įor the price you cannot beat this RAM! My Macbook Pro went from being slow-ish, to having hardly any trouble loading and supporting multiple apps at the same time.
Other pricey rams are made in China (assembled in USA) or Taiwan or Philippines, but not this one. And to top it all off, the product package says MADE IN USA. I then performed a Memtest on the RAM (took me 30 minutes) but it verified that the RAM was in good working order and nothing's wrong with it. Turning on the macbook pro, I verified that it had 16 gb RAM total. Just discharge your static electricity by touching a metal frame, and blow the dust off your components while it's still open. Installing it in Macbook Pro mid 2012 was a snap, I didn't even need to remove the battery connection.

For $89.99 plus tax, this was a deal! As RAM is RAM, as long as the qualifications are met, you don't need to pay more as it offers the same, if not, better performance than the more expensive ones. That being said, this is a Hynix brand by timetec so it's comparable to your OEM RAM type when you purchased you macbook pro. Runs as smooth as the day I got it! Highly recommended! Went and verified that instead of 4GBs I now have 8! Super helpful considering I'm an Info Systems major and I have a decent amount of software that I need to run regularly. Either way, I found instructions for my specific model on the Apple website and it only took me about 7-10 minutes. The only negative would be that I didn't find the instructions on installation very clear as far as the design but I think that's mostly because I wasn't very familiar with the inside of my own computer. It arrived on time and I was eager to get started. I bought the bundle Amazon suggested with the screwdriver/extra screw set since I didn't already own one. I searched around and found all the good reviews so I decided to check it out. I did some research which eventually directed me to upgrade the RAM.
I've had it since I started college 4 years ago and it was doing fine but was beginning to run a little slow.
